Well, lets see...
I have had my second day of school (technically 3rd...but the first day, i wasnt going to my own classes...) I really like school here. I like the way the schedule is set up, it is like college, back in the USA. I have different classes, in different rooms, every day. I have to say, my favorite classes are Englisch, und Biologie.
Obviously i like English, because the class is taught in Englisch, and i can understand it =) But i also like it because, the teacher is very nice, and i have made some friends out of that class. As for Biologie, i really like the teacher. She is funny, and nice. A lot of the biologie terms in German, are very similiar to the Englisch ones, so i can usually figure out what we are doing. And the Biologie, i am learning here is not the same sutff i have learned back in the USA. Here, biologie is taught your entire highschool...years? lol They learn new things about Biologie every year. Today, i am not exactly sure what we talked about, but i am pretty sure in the beginning of the class she taught us how to call emergency...(like 911 back home) and something aboutt standing in certain areas of the room, different certain attacks...and something about the chair going into the window...i couldnt quite understand, lol =) And then we talked about different biologie terms...i think. And went over parts of a microscope..well, we didnt go over it, it was handed to us to do for homework (i am still translating it...)
For my math class, i have a more strict teacher, i think compared to my other ones. I understand what i am doing in that class...i just never have any idea what he is saying to the class...i usually look at the people next to me, and see what they are doing, aand then i understand. In Germany, normally guirls do not pursue mathematics. There are only 3 girls in my mathematics class, of 30, me included.
My german class, i still have no clue what we are talking about. Although, today we read a story "Ein tisch ist ein tisch" i have no idea what it was about, but according to one of my friends, she hardly understood it...and she speaks the language! so i highly doubt i had much of a chance.
Tomorrow, i have my first Erdkunde, und sozial Sciences class. I also have my first German tutoring session, so i hope all goes well!!
The weather here has been beautiful! My hosts tell me, this is most unusual to have so much sunny weather. It is normally always raining, haha.
Everything with my host family is still going great. I am starting to feel pretty comfortable here. My host mom,Martina, me, and my 3rd host mom, Sabine, went to go see a movie last night. "Selbst ist die Bräut" (The proposal, with Sandra Bullock) I understood most of what was going on...but i do have to admit, it is so funny to see Sandra Bullock..but not hear her voice...but a different voice speaking German, haha. =)
This weekend, i will be going to my 3rd host mothers home, and then a birthday party in Cologne. Quite excited!!! =)
